Our Achievements

To improve and promote good health and sanitation

* A hand-pumped well was installed, giving the villagers easy access to clean drinking water and allowing crops to be grown more successfully.

* Six communal latrines have been built (3 for men and 3 for women)

* To help prevent malaria - Insecticide Treated Mosquito nets have been bought for each household.

* The nearest government hospital is nearly two hour’s walk away so once a month, a free mini-bus service is provided to run the sick children to hospital for treatment.

* All the children have access to vaccinations offered free by the government.

To support education and training

* Children are being sponsored to go to school. Primary education is supposedly free in Kenya but most children don’t attend because their parents cannot afford the text books, uniforms and other associated costs. MVDT is currently sponsoring 18 children to go to school.

* 16 of the villagers have received training by professional tailors, in order to provide a tailoring service to nearby villages and to make school uniforms for the sponsored children.

To promote a more secure future for all:

* We actively promote the use of birth control and as a result over 70 women in the community now use family planning. The birth rate has noticeably dropped.

* We have bought four goats, which have produced three sets of off-spring. The milk is used to provide nourishment for the children and the manure to grow crops.
